Roy Makaay's Deportivo La Coruna moved to within one point of league leaders
Real Madrid thanks to two goals from the prolific Dutch international striker
as Deportivo battled their way through a compact defense to beat Seville 3-1.
Deportivo trainer Javier Irureta said after the match that he was very pleased
at the way in which his team were able to penetrate Seville's 9 man defensive
wall, saying " Seville were very compact and organized and its difficult to
score against them. The game opened up after the break and we were able to take
advantage."
The trainer also added that this years title has become a three horse race
between Deportivo, Real Madrid and Dutch international goalkeeper Sander
Westerveld's Real Sociedad.
