In an interview in the Dutch daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf' Dutch
international goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has vented his discontentment
with his club Fulham and revealed that he wants to leave Fulham.
Van der Sar joined Fulham in the belief that with the backing of
multi-millionaire chairman Mohammed Al-Fayed the club would be able to
establish itself as a force in the Premiership. However, since Van der
Sar's arrival, Fulham have lost their home ground and trainer Tigana
has been fired.
Van der Sar: "Nothing they said has happened, and last season was dramatic.
We were out of most competitions within no time and after that the rest of
the season is a long road."
With the current dip in the transfer market Van der Sar realises that it
will now be easy to find a new club.
Van der Sar: "The price Fulham want for me is not extremely high, but
nowadays you can't demand as much anymore. Some years ago you could tell
your agent that you only wanted to play in England for example, but now
you're lucky if a club is interested."
