Dutch international goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar insists that he
will be sitting out the remainder of his contract with Premier
League outfit Fulham after initially stating that he was looking
for a new club. The former Ajax goalie's motivation for U-turning
on his decision to look for a new club would seem the present
financial crisis in football.
In an interview in the English weekly newspaper 'Mail on Sunday'
Van der Sar said: "There is no way I am leaving. That may be
disappointing for some, but I have a contract for another two
years at Fulham. With the current crisis in the transfer market
it is almost impossible to move. I count myself lucky I still
have a good contract."
