NEW YORK, April 15 -- Four ties among teams that finished the 2003-04 regular
season with identical records were broken today through random drawings to help
determine the order of selection for NBA Draft 2004, which will be held on
Thursday, June 24, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The drawings were conducted live on NBA TV earlier today at the Essex House
Hotel in New York by Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President, Basketball
Operations.
The results of the random drawings:
The Los Angeles Clippers (28-54) won a tie-breaker with Atlanta
Toronto (33-49) won a tie-breaker with Philadelphia
Golden State (37-45) won a tie-breaker with Seattle
Milwaukee (41-41) won a tie-breaker with New Orleans (Note: Atlanta holds
Milwaukee's pick)
Attached is the order of selection for the first round of NBA Draft 2004, as
well as the number of chances for teams in NBA Draft Lottery 2004, to be held
May 26, at the NBA Entertainment studio in Secaucus, N.J.
Teams entered in the NBA Draft Lottery, to be held on May 26, 2004, are set
forth below. The first three picks will be determined by the Lottery. The
expansion Charlotte Bobcats will have the fourth pick and the remainder of the
"Lottery Teams" will select in positions five through 14 in inverse order of
their consolidated standings at the end of the regular season.
