It is no coincidence that Carter's surging play followed a dreadful
three-game losing streak that left the Nets in a 9-12 slump 10 days ago.
After losing to Charlotte at home, Kidd said he pulled Carter aside.

"I just told him as a whole, me and him weren't playing up to par," Kidd
said. "That's all I said, and he's gone off the charts. I talked to him as
a friend; sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you go up. He's
playing like one of the best now in the league."
