July 18, 2007 -- The finesse pieces are present. And
now Jamaal Magloire insists he brings the toughness that can make the Nets
champions of a too-often wimpy NBA. 

最需要的那一塊拼圖現在已經存在。

Jamaal Magloire 強調他將為籃網帶來所謂的強悍度，
在這個漸漸缺乏強悍的NBA當中。


"This league has changed a whole lot since I've been a rookie and a
second-year player. It's gotten soft," proclaimed Magloire, who officially
became a Net yesterday, signing a one-year, $4 million free-agent deal, a
move that provides the Nets with the resources to be "NBA champions." 

"聯盟自從我是新人的那一年開始已經改變了很多。改變了什麼？
那就是越來越缺乏強悍度。"

這位昨天以一年四百萬的合約簽下來的Magloire說。
他提供籃網成為一個冠軍的爭奪者之一的要素。

Those were Magloire's words. Hey, if you're going to set a bar, set it high.

With the likes of Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson already
present, Magloire, who expects to win a starting position, sees himself as
the missing ingredient. 

在籃網的 Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson 都已經在這支
球隊的情形之下。 預期贏得先發位置的 Magloire 把他自己視為這支球隊
缺少的那一個成功元素。

"They have some really good pieces here, and my only objective is to enhance
this team and make it better. I see myself as a scorer and a rebounder," said
the 6-11, 265-pound Magloire, a 9.0 career scorer who has enjoyed All-Star
success. "I bring a toughness that I haven't seen in this league very often." 

〝這支球隊已經擁有很多不錯的拼圖，而我來到這裡的目標
就是增進這支球隊的能量讓他們變得更好。

我把自己視為一個既能得分也能搶籃板的球員。

這位身高6-11, 265磅的，生涯平均9分，享受過當全明星滋味的Magloire 所說。


Magloire had better offers for more years, more money, but the Nets
represented "a chance to play on a good team that's competitive and has a
chance to win the [NBA] finals," he said. "It's not about money for me. It's
about winning games." 

Magloire 有著其他球隊所提供更好的合約：更多錢，更多年份。

不過籃網已經存在〝一個能在更好的球隊打球的機會，並且有奪得NBA冠軍的競爭性〞

And pushing around creampuffs. Magloire has some stuff the Nets truly need,
agreed team president Rod Thorn. 


Rod Thorn 認同 Magloire 擁有籃網相當缺乏的那一塊領域。

"He's a very physical player, he's an inside player, a player who likes
contact. He gives it and takes it. You need physical players. We've been too
much of a finesse team, there's no doubt about it," Thorn said. 


〝他是一名非常不怕碰撞的禁區球員，他喜歡有肢體上的碰撞與接觸〞

〝他既提供碰撞也接受碰撞。你需要一名這樣的球員。〞


"Physical is not only making contact. It's rebounding the ball, blocking some
shots, guarding the basket. We have not been any kind of a shot-blocking
team, not a big time rebounding team. He can help us in both those areas." 

〝打球打得很硬不代表只是製造碰撞而已。

也同時代表把籃板球給抓下來、敲出火鍋、並且把自己的籃子守好。

在過去我們並不是封阻、籃板能力很好的一隻球隊。

在這兩點，他將會幫助我們〞


The Nets are not done maneuvering, Thorn said. 


Thron 說：目前籃網的陣容尚未完成。


"We'll probably sign one or two more players before the whole thing is over,
but right now I have no idea who they'll be."

But for the moment, they feel they have upgraded through Magloire and raw but
upside-laded Sean Williams. And they re-signed Carter. 


〝我們大概將會在陣容確定好之前再簽一位或是兩位球員，

但目前而言我不知道這些人將會是誰。〞


但在目前這時刻，籃網已經作了三樣補強、維持戰力的事情。

簽下 Magloire, 生疏但是身體強壯的 Sean Williams，

還有把 Carter 再簽下來。
