Youth Serves Nets on Winning Run

For as long as Jason Kidd has been a Net, the team has thrived whenever it
has gotten a chance to play a fast-paced, run-and-gun game.

只要 Jason Kidd 在籃網的一天，他們就可以不斷地滿場亂跑、跑動轟炸。


But opportunities to play that way were rare earlier this season. The Nets
were being outrebounded on both ends and having a tough time stopping
opponents from making shots, two issues that didn't help the transition game
that Kidd prefers. 

但在開季時他們顯然還沒有這樣的表現，除此之外也無法阻止對手的得分
，兩個問題同時影響，使得 Kidd 無法享受他喜歡的比賽。


The Nets also were being bogged down by a starting frontcourt tandem whose
abilities didn't fit that style at all. Neither Jason Collins nor Malik Allen
runs particularly well. And while Allen has a reliable mid-range game,
Collins often struggles to score at all. 

或許之前籃網都被不恰當的前場先發組合給拖累了，他們的功能不適合這
樣的球風，Jason Collins 和 Malik Allen都無法適應這樣的戰術。而當
Allen 表現持平時，Collins 無法在進攻上做出貢獻。


However, the transition game that was mostly missing as the Nets stumbled to
a 10-15 start has been recharged during their recent run of five straight
wins and seven in their last eight. 

然而，儘管開季打出了 10 勝 15 敗的踉蹌成績，最近的五連勝、八戰七
勝卻又為籃網帶來了新的能量。


And Kidd says the switch to Sean Williams and Josh Boone in the frontcourt is
one of the biggest reasons why.

"I think we found it," Kidd said. "The two young kids definitely help us get
out and run."

When Lawrence Frank made the lineup change before a game against the Kings on
Dec.18, he said he was looking for more athleticism and energy from the
players who do a lot of the dirty work for Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard
Jefferson. Though the Nets lost that first game, they've gone 7-1 since. 

當教練 Lawrence Frank 在 12/8 對國王那場比賽前調整先發陣容時，他
說是為了尋找運動性更高、能量更強的球員來幫三劍客幹些髒活。雖然剛
開始是輸了比賽，但目前他們是七勝一敗的成績。


Boone, the second-year forward from UConn, has been more consistent than
Williams, the rookie first-round draft pick from Boston College. But both
give Kidd and company exactly what they need - quickness and athleticism that
supplement the transition game perfectly. 

阿布是康大來的 NBA二年級生，目前為止表現得比香威還要穩定些，香威
是由波士頓大學投入選秀，第一輪被籃網隊選中。但他們兩個都給了Kidd
和球隊真正需要的 － 高度的敏捷和運動性。


Boone has averaged 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds since his first game as a
starter, Williams 8.0 points and 6.5 rebounds. Williams has also blocked an
average of 2.4 shots, which also helps the Nets get up the court for easy
buckets. 

開始打先發後，阿布平均每場比賽 10.3 分、8.3 籃板，香威則是 8 分
6.5 籃板的表現，外帶 2.4 顆火鍋，幫助籃網更輕鬆地完成快攻。


"Those guys have given us an infusion of athleticism," said team president
Rod Thorn. "That helps." 

總管 Rod Thorn：「這兩個傢伙確實為我們注入了不少能量，幫助很大。」


On Saturday night in Atlanta, all five starters scored in double figures for
the first time this season. Kidd said having five players on the floor who
can play a fast-paced style makes the Nets even more difficult to defend than
when the big three are rolling by themselves. 

星期六對老鷹的比賽，先發五人都拿到兩位數的得分，這還是本季第一回
。隊長說五個球員同時進行快節奏的比賽使得籃網比從前更加難以防守。


"R.J.'s always been a guy who can get out there and run. Now V.C. is filling
the lane," said Kidd. "So it puts so much pressure (on the opponent) when
you've got five guys who can get out there and run." 

Kidd 說：「RJ 總是跑第一個，現在 VC 也回到跑道上了，這給對手非常
大的壓力，尤其是當球場上的每個人都可以不斷地跑轟時。」


Of course, it helps that Kidd, Carter and Jefferson have played well during
the recent streak. In the last nine games, Carter is averaging 23.5 points
and Jefferson is averaging 24.6. Kidd has notched three triple-doubles over
the same time, including two in his last two games. 

當然，這也幫助了三劍客在最近的連勝中越打越好。在最近的九場比賽中
，Carter 平均每場 23.5 分，RJ 則有 24.6 分的表現， Kidd 則是拿下

R.J. IS OK: Jefferson "tweaked" his right knee at the end of Saturday's game
and had it examined by a doctor yesterday. Tests did not show damage and
Jefferson is not expected to miss any time.

還是在說 RJ 沒有大礙。（每個人都很關心 RJ 的嘛。）
