Kidd Racks Up Triple-Doubles in Bunches

It was a toss-up last week in New Jersey over what was drawing more
attention - Jason Kidd's new mustache or his ever-increasing triple
-double portfolio.

上個禮拜 Kidd 吸引了整個聯盟的注意，用他的鬍鬚和不斷增加的大三元
次數，而兩者中哪一個吸引了較多的注意呢？很難說。


The gossip columnists and the local cable media types were all over
the mustache, which he sprouted a week or so ago, but the basketball
purists continued to be amazed at the frequency with which Kidd is
posting triple-doubles.

事實上，當八卦專欄作家和當地媒體都在討論他的鬍渣時，籃球專家們正
為了他驚人的大三元速度而嘖嘖稱奇呢。


Kidd's triple-double in a loss at Charlotte (13 points, 12 assists,
11 rebounds) last week was his third straight, making him the first
player to accomplish that feat since Grant Hill did it in April 1997.
Kidd's previous two came in a victory at Atlanta (10 points, 14 assists,
13 rebounds), and in a home victory against the Bobcats (11 points,
12 assists, 10 rebounds). Those three triple-doubles gave him 10 for
the season, one fewer than the rest of the league combined. 

在輸給山貓的比賽中 Kidd 拿下連續第三場的大三元，上次有人幹出這種
事情已經是 1997 年的事了，喔對了，那傢伙叫做 Grant Hill 。在這場
比賽之後，本季 Kidd 已經拿下十次大三元了，僅僅落後給聯盟其他人的
總和一次。


The league record of nine straight triple-doubles was set by Wilt
Chamberlain in 1967-'68.

而關於連續大三元次數呢，聯盟最高紀錄是九次，是張先生在 1967-68
球季達到的創舉。

Coach Lawrence Frank looks past Kidd's triple-doubles and focuses more
on a bigger picture.

教練法先生不談 Kidd 的大三元，他有更宏觀的看法。


"Those numbers are a result of how damn hard he competes," said Frank.
"You see what he does in the second half against Atlanta, or the fourth
quarter against Michael Redd. You just feel the thing that separates
him from everyone else is his uncommon will. He's been incredible."

「那些數字只是一個結果而已，只是他完成任務的結果，靠，你知道那有
多難嗎？」法先生說，「看看他對老鷹時下半場的表現，還有對公鹿時的
第四節，就可以感覺他求勝的慾望比其他人都強。這傢伙，實在太神奇了
！」


Kidd's trio of triple-doubles gave him 97 for his career and he will
undoubtedly soon join Magic Johnson (138) and OscarRobertson (181) as
the only players with 100 or more.

這三場比賽使得 Kidd 生涯大三元次數累積到了 97 次，很快就會加入魔
術和大Ｏ的百次俱樂部。


Kidd's triple-doubles are occurring with such regularity that his teammates
are getting tired of being asked about them by reporters. In fact, New
Jersey's Bostjan Nachbar suggested last week that reporters covering the
team should be banned from asking any more triple-double questions.

 Kidd 拿下大三元已經被視為很正常的事情了，他的隊友們都被這些報導
問到煩了，奶爸甚至還建議乾脆規定上禮拜的採訪通通不准問有關大三元
的任何問題。


Kidd didn't have much to say about his third straight triple-double
because it came in a loss. But he is intrigued at the thought of joining
Robertson and Johnson in the 100-club.

 Kidd 對於他連續第三場的大三元不願多談，畢竟那場比賽籃網輸了球。
但他對於加入百次俱樂部顯然還是很有興趣。


"With the help of my teammates and me finding a way to score 10 points
a game, it's kind of approaching quicker than we anticipated," said Kidd.
"A hundred is a lot. For only three guys to be at 100, that's a great
accomplishment. Look at Oscar - he averaged a triple-double for almost
a couple seasons. Then Magic. Two Hall of Fame guys who were winners.
So that would be a great honor."

「靠著隊友的幫助，我拿下大三元的速度比以往都快，喔對了，還有我找
到每場比賽得十分的方法，科科。」 Kidd 說，「一百次的確很多，尤其
是數十年來整個聯盟只有三個人能達到的時候。看看大Ｏ，這傢伙有好幾
個球季都差點拿下單季平均大三元的數據；還有魔術，這兩位都是名人堂
的球員，能加入他們真的是一件非常榮幸的事。」


Now, about the mustache. New Jersey's Richard Jefferson and Vince Carter
have already told Kidd to lose it, but Kidd insists that he's keeping it.
The reason he grew it?

現在來談談 Kidd 的鬍鬚， RJ 和 VC 建議他可以剃掉了吧，但 Kidd 還
是堅持要留著，到底是為了什麼原因呢？


"I'm just bored," he said.

「喔，沒有啦，我無聊嘛。」Kidd 說。
