Best Net of all time? Erving's three MVPs, two ABA titles put an end
to the debate

When Richard Jefferson called Jason Kidd the best Net of all time, "including
the ABA," a couple of weeks back, he made quite a statement.

We'll forgive Jefferson for his loyalty to his teammate (we'd be loyal too
after catching all those amazing passes) and his youth. Jefferson wasn't even
born until four years after Julius Erving left the Nets, so how could he be
expected to know that the man known as Dr. J was and remains the greatest
Net.

Loughery, a huge Jason Kidd fan who coached Erving with the Nets. "But I'd
have to say Dr. J. He was one of the greatest of all time, and so is Kidd.
But the one big difference is that if you needed a big basket, Dr. J could
get it."

Certainly Kidd has had a tremendous impact on the Nets, turning the
once-moribund franchise into a contender in less than a season. But Erving's
time with the Nets cannot be discounted, and even the humble Erving draws the
distinction between himself and Kidd.
Kidd 對籃網來說有著極大的影響，畢竟他在一季之內便帶領積弱的籃網
擠身一級強隊之林。但 Dr.J 在籃網時的表現仍然不折不扣，就連一向謙
虛的 Dr.J 自己也指出了他和 Kidd 之間的差異。
"I'm very high on Jason," Erving said in a telephone interview from his home
in St. George, Utah. "I think Jefferson's point is valid. In terms of
consistency and longevity, he might be the most important player the
franchise has ever had.
