Dennis Wise has insisted that he will not interfere in any way with
boss Kevin Keegan's role at Newcastle.
Wise quit his manager's post at Leeds at the beginning of the week to
take up the position of executive director at St James' Park and rumours
began to circulate suggesting that the 41-year-old would be hovering over
Keegan.
However, Wise, who played under Keegan during his time in charge of
England, remains adamant that the manager is in charge and that he is
purely supporting the boss through the academy and player recruitment.
Mixed up
"A lot of people have got a little mixed up with the reason I am here,
and we need to straighten that out quite quickly," Wise said.
"I am not here to be involved in the first team; I am not here to manage.
"I am here to help Kevin as much as possible with bringing young players
through, and also recommending certain players to him.
"He will say yes or no. He has the final word. No-one else.
"I am not going to do things like bring players in behind his back. I am
not into that.
"Everything that happens will be run past him and he will say yes or no."
