The Leeds United manager Dennis Wise will join Newcastle United on
Wednesday after the two clubs agreed a compensation package. Wise will
take on a ￡1m-a-year role similar to that of a director of football,
which will involve overseeing youth development and player scouting
rather than coaching the first team.

The decision to approach Wise last week was taken by Newcastle's
