By Graeme Bailey - Created on 5 Mar 2007
Newcastle have confirmed the appointment of a chief executive.
United, subject of two aborted take-over bids in the past 12 months, have
revealed that Steve Walton will take up the position in May.
In a statement the club said: "Newcastle United PLC is pleased to announce
that Mr Steve Walton will be joining the company in May 2007 as PLC chief
executive.
"This move is designed to strengthen the existing management team in view
of a number of proposed future developments in and around St James' Park."
Meanwhile, the club will take a further look at non-league trialist Lee
Kerr on Monday.
The 18-year-old Whitley Bay striker has been training with The Magpies and
will turn out for their reserves against Bolton as he bids to win a contract.
