Kev Call Was All It Took - Hughton
By Craig Hope
NEWCASTLE United coach Chris Hughton has revealed that all it took was a
phone call from Kevin Keegan to persuade him to join the Magpies backroom
team.
The 49-year-old will bring a wealth of experience to the black and white
set-up having spent 13 seasons as a coach at Tottenham Hotspur and two years
as assistant boss with the Republic of Ireland.
Mr.Hughton 說他是接到 Keegan 的來電邀請
他只考慮了一下,就決定加入新堡教練團
And, speaking to Newcastle World TV in an exclusive interview, Hughton
explained that it took just a matter of seconds to say yes to KK's Toon offer.
"All it took was a phone call and within seconds I'd said yes," said the
53-times capped Irish international.
"When you have been in the game for as long as I have, the opportunity to
come to a club of this stature is always going to be too big an opportunity
to turn down.
"When the phone call came it was very welcomed and I jumped at the chance
straight away.
"My role is to support Kevin as part of a coaching group that we feel can
enhance the qualities of the team.
"I have known Kevin for some time and I have been in, and enjoyed, his
company on many occasions.
"As somebody from outside that is always looking in on Newcastle, you
always look in awe of what a fantastic club it is.
"The city and the supporters that the club has is incredible and I'm very
excited to be part of it."
Hughton has only been in the North East for two days, but already the
warmth of the Geordie public is rubbing off on the Stratford-born coach.
"I have been up here for a couple of days but the place is magnificent,"
he added.
"I could not have been made to feel more welcome, at the training ground,
the hotel and at the stadium and it makes me want to get on with the job in
hand."
(看來 Hughton 頗喜歡新堡這地方,少不了讚美一下)
