Clarke: Chelsea won't buy

Chelsea assistant manager Steve Clarke does not think Jose Mourinho will be
asking owner Roman Abramovich for more of his millions in January.
The Blues had been tipped to bring a new striker into their squad when the
transfer window reopens following the sacking of Romania international
Adrian Mutu.
Yet Clarke has stressed that the coaching staff are happy with the players
at their disposal.
"I would not think so," Clarke told Sky Sports News when asked if Chelsea
will be dipping into the transfer market in the New Year.
"We've got a good squad of players and we're very happy. We're involved in
all four competitions at the moment and long may that continue.
"The players are committed, they've shown great attitude all season and
worked very hard in the matches. Nothing comes easy in this league. It's
down to us to keep going, keep working and, hopefully, continue where we are.
"I think the training sessions are very intense. The players want to train
hard.
"We've got a quite a small squad but a very, very talented squad. They all
want to be in the team and take part in every game which is not possible.
"It's good for us because it keeps everyone on their toes."
Clarke is keeping his feet on the ground despite Chelsea going five points
clear at the Premiership summit.
"Not so long ago, Arsenal were five points clear," he asserted. "It can
turn around quickly in this league.
"It's nice to be top, we've been there a couple of weeks now but we're not
daft. The manager's very switched on and we know there's a long way to go
in the league."
