A SEETHING Sam Allardyce has delivered a stinging rebuke to those who
have accused him of trying to block Michael Owen's England return, as he
once again insisted he has not fallen out with the striker.
Owen has been the subject of a classic club-versus-country row this week
following reports he had argued with Allardyce over his involvement in
Newcastle's game against Everton at the weekend and England's Euro 2008
qualifiers against Estonia and Russia.
As a result, some national pundits have suggested Allardyce has an
anti-England agenda as he tried to prevent Owen from playing for his country
because he does not believe he is fit enough following groin surgery. But
with the striker keen to underline the fact he had not fallen out with his
club manager on Wednesday, as he also denied allegations he puts England
above Newcastle's interests, Allardyce has finally lost patience with those
he feels are trying to stir up trouble between him and his player.

“I will be watching the game on Saturday like every other England fan and
people who say I’m anti-England are talking rubbish.

“Some of the things that have been said and written about me and Michael
this week are ridiculous, but I try not to take much notice of it all,

what they are talking about. There is no problem between Michael and myself,
just people trying to say there is because they want to make a name for
themselves, make it look like they know what’s going on, when they have no
idea.”

And, while Allardyce admits he will anxiously await Owen’s return to
Tyneside after the trip to Russia next week, he argued he is no different to
any other club manager during an international break. He added: “An England
win and a fit Michael Owen will make me a happy man. I’ll watch the game on
Saturday and I will want England to win as much as anyone else, but obviously
as Newcastle manager I also want to see Michael and Alan (Smith) come back
next week fit and well.
不過 Big Sam 仍舊承認在歐文平安回到 Tyneside 前，他仍會感到焦躁。
