ROB LEE admits he is concerned by the lack of transfer activity so far at St
James’s Park.
The former Toon skipper recalls the summer of 1995 when Newcastle signed the
key quartet of Les Ferdinand, Shaka Hislop, Warren Barton and David Ginola.
Ex-England man Lee feels that four signings of similar quality are required
this summer too, and said:
“If Kevin buys the players and the board back him, it’ll be fine.
“We could struggle if they don’t let him do that.
“I think 12 years ago when we almost won the title, Kevin had all of his
business tied up before the end of May.
“He knew which players were coming here and it was all done and dusted.
“If you don’t get your players in early, you’re on a rocky road because
other teams will get there first.
“With the Euros going on, it only adds to the hold-ups, too.”
