Surgery for Sib
By Alex Livie - Created on 2 May 2007
Newcastle striker Antoine Sibierski has been ruled out for the remainder
of the season after undergoing surgery on his arm.
The French forward's season was brought to a premature end by a freak
accident during Monday's loss at Reading.
Sibierski fell awkwardly in trying to block a shot and was taken to
hospital for X-rays.
Doctors confirmed his injury required surgery and manager Glenn Roeder has
confirmed Sibierski will not play again this season.
"Antoine has undergone an operation on his broken arm and will definitely
miss the rest of the season," Roeder told the club's official website.
"It's a shame because he has been fantastic for us this year.
"Luckily we have Shola (Ameobi) and Michael (Owen) back now but our luck
with injuries has been awful all season."
