http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,27-1656074,00.html June 16, 2005 Moyes suffers double frustration By Oliver Kay IT HAS not been the greatest week for David Moyes. The Everton manager expected to have signed Scott Parker and Mikael Forssell by now but, with unexpected twists over the past seven days, the Chelsea duo moved elsewhere, leaving the newly-crowned Manager of the Year to wonder where his big summer signings are going to come from. Ultimately, it was Everton’s decision to pull out of a deal to sign Forssell, who joined Birmingham City for £3 million after failing to convince the club’ s staff of his fitness, but confirmation of Parker’s £6.5 million move to Newcastle United yesterday came as a serious disappointment to Moyes, who had hoped to build a team around the England midfield player. Everton have muscle in the transfer market this summer, not only financially but also with the lure of Champions League football, but a strict wage structure meant Parker was beyond their reach. The board were willing to pay the 24-year-old more than £40,000 a week only for Newcastle to offer to match his £55,000-a-week contract at Chelsea. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.121.195.38 ※ 編輯: jftsai 來自: 59.121.195.38 (06/16 09:41)
