Emre: I want to stay
By Carla Hilton - Created on 21 Apr 2007
Turkish star Emre insists he will not quit Newcastle despite a rocky season
which eventually led to an FA disciplinary charge.
The 26-year-old, who was accused of taunting Everton players with racist
remarks, had been linked with a move to Galatasaray or Bayern Munich in the
summer but insists he is going nowhere.
自從足總控告Emre對Everton的比賽中作出種放歧視的挑釁
有關Emre夏天會加盟Galatasaray和遠走拜仁的消息就一直在傳
但Emre已聲明,堅持不會離開新堡。
Emre told the Daily Mirror: "I still have three years of my contract left
and I want to stay here.
"我還有三年合約在身,我仍然想留下"
"I don't think the fans have seen the best of me," he added.
"而且球迷還沒看到我最佳的表現。"
"There have been times when I have played well, but there have also been
times when it wasn't so good. But now I am happy and I don't want to look at
the past."
Toon boss Glen Roeder has backed Emre to prove himself at St James' Park
and admits the interest from other clubs has further added to his admiration
for the player.
砲德一直都是支持Emre的。
他希望Emre能在SJP證明自己,同時認為其他球隊的興趣
已表示出Emre的能力讓他們欣賞
"I have been very pleased, but that does not surprise me," said Roeder.
"He is a terrific little pro.
"He lives right, plays right and wants to play all the time."
Emre was cleared of all accusations relating to a racism charge in December
in which he was accused of an angry exchange with Everton's Tim Howard, Joleon
Lescott and Joseph Yobo.
But Roeder says all that is behind him, adding: "He has got on with his
life. He is an excellent footballer."
