The Blues all but saw their slim title hopes go up in smoke after Monday's defeat to Aston Villa and Manchester United are breathing down their necks for second place. Chelsea are determined to finish second and secure automatic qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League, but face a gruelling end to the season wit h their Champions League semi-final with Monaco to come in the middle of some important Premiership games. "It was always going to be hard playing two games in three days over Easter," said Duff. "I don't know if the eight changes the manager made affected the cohesion. But you would have thought fresh legs would have helped. "We struggled at Villa even after going in front. We weren't at full pelt. "But we are still desperate to come second in the league ahead of Manchester United. It's in our hands and we don't want to throw away all the good work of this season." Meanwhile, contrary to reports Chelsea have confirmed Wednesday's meeting between Claudio Ranieri and chief executive Peter Kenyon will go ahead as planned. Reports suggested that Kenyon had pulled out of the meeting, but talks will proceed as planned. The meeting is believed to have been arranged to discuss Ranieri's future, but the club are playing down reports that the discussions are make-or-break regarding the Italian. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.216.50.104
