IT might have been Alan Smith's first game outside the top-flight,
but Newcastle United's captain said he hadn't enjoyed a match as much in years.

也許這場比賽是 Smith 第一場在頂級聯賽以外出陣的職業球賽，
但紐卡的新隊長表示，他有好久好久沒有這樣地享受一場比賽了。


Smith, pictured, led by example against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns,
putting in a series of crunching tackles as Chris Hughton's side came
from behind to claim a creditable point thanks to a goal from Damien Duff and
Tim Krul's performance between the posts.

在這場對上知更鳥的比賽裡，他用一連串的狠鏟來幫助球隊拿到一顆寶貴的積分。


And Smith – who has spent his entire career in the Premier League –
loved every minute.

而且他感到十分的舒暢與愉悅。


"I haven't enjoyed a game like that for some time –
 I felt like I was 10 again," Smith told the Gazette.

"感覺真爽！我好像回到了10歲呀大佬～"


"People watching on TV must have saw that we all enjoyed that game.

"你們都開電視了嘛，你們也看得出來對不對？"


"It was played in the right spirit, and there were tackles going in everywhere.

"我們用熱情融化了球場，而且到處亂鏟！哈哈！"


"There were 50-50 challenges all over the place, and a couple of goals.
 The referee did very well, and it was a good game all round.

"這是一場勢均力敵的比賽，兩隊合力進了兩球，裁判沒亂吹，一切都很完美。"


"We could have won it. We've lost bodies, and when that happens you lose
 a bit of continuity. Everybody understands that."

"我們其實可以贏下來的，要不是因為有夥伴受傷.."
"而且當事情發生後球隊的表現就失去了一些連貫性，你知道的。"


The pre-match talk was dominated by Joey Barton's absence from the
starting XI amid suggestions that he was involved in a disagreement in training
on the eve of the game.

賽後記者會的鋒頭都被壞小孩搶走了，因為他賽前似乎和兩位南美洲隊友發生爭執。


However, Smith insists every one of the club's players is committed to
the cause.

隊長 Smith 則強調隊上的每個人都很團結。


He went on:

"I'm not going to lie and say that it was easy. We've lost some good players
 last week, and while we wish them all the best, the main thing is that
 the lads who are still here want to be here. I think they proved that."

他說：

"我不想逃避或對這些問題說謊，我們的確在上星期失去了一些好隊友。
 我們祝他們將來一切順利。重點是，留下來的球員們就是想留下來的人。
 我認為他們會證明這一點的。"
