Supporter collects cup for United
An 18-year-old Newcastle United fan is to lift the Intertoto trophy before
the club's Uefa cup tie with AZ Alkmaar.
Season-ticket holder Martin Newton was given the honour after being
selected as the club's one millionth fan of the season at an earlier match.
He will collect the cup alongside captain Scott Parker 15 minutes ahead of
kick-off on Thursday.

The Intertoto cup, a pre-qualifying tournament for the Uefa cup, is the
club's first trophy in 37 years.

'Great honour'
The club welcomed its one millionth fan of the season through the St
James' Park turnstiles at the derby with Middlesbrough on Saturday.
To mark the milestone, the club picked one seat at random during half-time
- Mr Newton's.
Mr Newton, of Crawcrook, Gateshead, said: "Nothing like this has ever
happened to me before and it's still sinking in.
"It will be a great honour to receive the award on the club's behalf."
Glenn Roeder's side have won the trophy as they are the last surviving
Intertoto Cup entrants in the Uefa Cup.
Newcastle's last major trophy was the 1969 Inter Cities Fairs Cup, while
the club's last major domestic trophy win was in the 1950s.
