Man of the Match:
He may have been on the losing side but Newcastle's Jonas Gutierrez was a
constant threat throughout and his efforts so nearly helped the Magpies earn
a battling point against below-par Man City.
Save of the match:
When Man City were leading 1-0, Joe Hart produced a superb finger-tip save
to turn Fabricio Coloccini's first-half volley round the post and deny
Newcastle an equaliser.
Talking point:
Newcastle will feel hard done by after a couple of controversial decisions
from referee Martin Atkinson went against them. First Mike Williamson was
penalised for a foul on Carlos Tevez inside the box despite seemingly winning
the ball while Shola Ameobi's valid penalty appeals after being brought down
by Joleon Lescott late in the match were turned down.
