And then there's the other games, ones that don't really classify themselves
in any category but deserve a mention anyway, if only to see Mario get
recognized in those particular fields...

First up, Mario was quite the face for some puzzle games. He donned a
doctor's outfit for the Dr. Mario games, games in which you had to place
particular-colored pills over germs to make them disappear off-screen. Then
there was Mario's Picross, a unique take on the old Picross theme with Mario
pictures thrown in for good measure. This was a particularly good title for
the Game Boy that's worth tracking down, if you have the means.

Party was born on the SNES and never looked back. Since that time, the series
has seen a number of new games added each year, with new mini-games to be
completed and, with the introduction of the GameCube titles, the inclusion of
a microphone for voice-activated games. A Game Boy Advance release of Mario
Party Advance also surfaced, but sank due to the fact it offered very little
in terms of multiplayer enjoyment.

Mario also became a pretty recognizable face in Hollywood. Captain Lou
Albano, a wrestler at the time, took over the role of Mario in the Super
Mario Bros. Super Show (still legendary to this day, especially the episode
where Rowdy Roddy Piper made an appearance); NBC formed their own
Nintendo-themed animated show featuring the adventures of Mario and Peach;
and Hollywood Pictures released a Super Mario Bros. film, starring the likes
of Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, and Dennis Hopper as Koopa. The movie didn't
really do that well in terms of business, but many people liked the movie
anyway.

the Mario Is Missing games, where the heroic plumber goes missing and leaves
Luigi and Yoshi to find him by playing a Carmen Sandiego-esque guessing game
across the globe. A sequel, Mario's Time Machine, would find a release a year
later, taking place in different time eras.
