Reuters Wednesday August 6, 2003 10:46 AM GLASGOW, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Norway defender Henning Berg has signed a one-year contract with Scottish champions Rangers after passing a medical on Tuesday and is now racing to get fit for next week's Champions League qualifier. The former Blackburn Rovers and Manchester United player, who has spent the past 10 seasons in the English premier league, has played more than 40 games in Europe and Rangers manager Alex McLeish will be looking to use the centre back's experience. Rangers face either FC Copenhagen or Maltese side Sliema Wanderers in the Champions League third qualifying round later this month with the Danish side in pole position after a 4-1 win in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie. "We're delighted to have reached agreement with Henning Berg and I know Alex (McLeish) is looking forward to working with him," said Rangers director of football business Martin Bain on the club's official website. The 33-year-old defender, who was released by Blackburn at the end of last season, has been capped 95 times by Norway and is still a valued member of the country's squad as they battle with Denmark to reach the finals of Euro 2004. -- 有心 沒心 心在芬蘭 多情 薄情 情繫 Ajax -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 210.68.238.69
