而冰島的現役國家隊總教練 Asgeir Sigurvinsson 得到這個殊榮
Born in 1955, Asgeir Sigurvinsson began his career at IBV Vestmannaeyjar at
the tender age of 17. 'Geiri', as he is fondly known, played 21 Icelandic
top flight matches for the club in the 1972/73 season, scoring seven goals
and attracting international attention. That year also marked his debut for
Iceland's national team.

Belgian brilliance
His impressive start earned him a mid-summer move to Belgian First Division
side R. Standard de Liege in 1973, the first time an Icelandic footballer had
played abroad. Sigurvinsson immediately won a regular first-team place and
soon became indispensable. He played for Standard until the summer of 1981 and
was one of their key players as well as captaining the side for a spell.
'Geiri' also lifted the Belgian Cup in 1981.

Bayern blues
After leaving Liege, Sigurvinsson joined German giants FC Bayern Munchen.
At that time, Bayern's squad included some of the players who had won the
UEFA European Championship with the Federal Republic of Germany in 1980, and
Sigurvinsson did not get many chances to shine. This prompted an early exit
from the Munich club.
因為德國是1980年歐錦賽冠軍，對中多名主力都在拜仁，所以 Geiri沒有太多機會
大放光芒，早早就換隊去。
Bundesliga glory
He joined VfB Stuttgart the following summer and played for them until the end
of his career. 'Geiri' was team captain at Stuttgart for many years and was
widely regarded as one of the best players in the Bundesliga during that
period. He led Stuttgart to the German championship in the 1983/84 season and
was voted the league's best player by his fellow professionals.

Long career
In the spring of 1989, the Icelander was part of the Stuttgart side that lost
the UEFA Cup final on aggregate to SSC Napoli. Sigurvinsson played a total of
211 Bundesliga matches and found the net 39 times. He hung up his boots in the
spring of 1990, ending a professional career spanning 17 years.
1989年司徒加特惜敗歐聯盃決賽，敗給了有瑪拉杜那的拿波里隊，90年春天他就宣布退休，
結束了多年的職業生涯。
Key player
'Geiri' won 45 caps for Iceland, scoring five goals in the process. He
captained his country on seven occasions, the last one coming in the summer of
1989. He was a key element in the team's first successful period (1974/75),
and a stalwart from that time until the end of his playing days.
Iceland manager
Sigurvinsson featured in many important victories for his country, including
two memorable matches against the German Democratic Republic in 1974 and 1975,
and scored some unforgettable goals. He was twice selected sportsman of the
year in Iceland (1974 and 1984) and is still the only footballer to be so
honoured.
After his retirement, 'Geiri' worked for Stuttgart before moving back to his
homeland, where he is currently managing the national team
