The Nuggets had gotten one win on the road. They could have figured it was time
to hit the road.

Midway through the fourth quarter Wednesday night, it would have been easy for
the Nuggets to open the cargo hold on the bus. They had gotten the playoff road
victory they had sought in Game 1 and in Game 2, they were getting walloped by
17 points.

Instead, they scrapped to the end. Even though they didn't win, they cut the
deficit to three before losing 97-88 to the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T
Center.

"They know they're in for a battle," Nuggets guard Allen Iverson said of the
Western Conference first-round series tied 1-1 entering Game 3 on Saturday at

The late run allowed the Nuggets to fly back to Denver in a better mood. It was
in contrast to two years ago, when the Nuggets won at San Antonio in Game 1
before being walloped 104-76 in Game 2 and never winning again in the series.

"We're (more) experienced than we were two years ago," forward Carmelo Anthony
said. "We ain't going to just shut it down. We're going to fight you to the
end."

For much of the game, the Spurs shut down Anthony and Iverson. They held
Anthony to 26 points on 8-of-21 shooting and Iverson to 20 on 9-of-25 shooting.

Meanwhile, the Spurs sent out a search party and located Tim Duncan.After
having missed his first eight shots in Game 1 and finishing with 14 points,
Duncan had a solid outing with 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five
blocked shots.

Duncan shrugged afterward and said he didn't "change much." Then again, it's
not as if Duncan, celebrating his 31st birthday, was about to suddenly revamp
what has made him a two-time Most Valuable Player.

 Duncan 賽後聳聳肩表示，他「並沒有做太多改變」。再一次，慶祝三十一歲生日的

"Great players always come back and play better (after struggling), and Timmy
had a good night," Spurs coach Gregg Pop- ovich said.Duncan stepped up when
most needed. After Iverson cut the deficit to 91-88 on a three-pointer with
45.9 seconds to play, Duncan hit a short bank hook over Nene for a 93-88 lead
with 27.9 seconds remaining.

"Me and (center Marcus) Camby did a nice job on him," Nene said. "He just made

For much of the game, the Nuggets weren't making much of anything. The Nuggets,
who shot 38.6 percent, missed 18 layups, seven by Iverson.

Anthony said the Spurs did a "great job sending two or three guys at me."

Nuggets coach George Karl was more concerned with other body parts, the places
he believed the Spurs were hitting Iverson.

"I sit here almost in amazement that Allen Iverson can shoot 25 times and not
get a free throw," he said.

Iverson said he was "surprised" but isn't going to let the NBA "take any more
of the money" he has paid in fines. "I have no complaints about the
officiating," he said. "I just think I'll get (to the foul line Saturday). It's
just strange ... to not get there."

 Iverson 表示他「感到驚訝」，但是不會讓聯盟「從他身上再拿到一毛錢了」。

Iverson was content to let Karl criticize the officials."I don't think we get
that bump foul that so many players get in the NBA," Karl said. "(Iverson)
doesn't get that foul. ... (Tony) Parker gets it a lot."

 Iverson 會很滿意 Karl 對裁判的批評。 Karl :「我不認為我們跟其他 NBA 球員一

Parker is part of San Antonio's big three who bounced back after a big letdown
in Game 1. He scored 20 points and Manu Ginobili scored 17, 15 in the second
half.

Throw in Duncan, and the three scored 59 points on 21-of-44 shooting. That came

"We knew it was going to be a much better game for us," Ginobili said.It could
have been better. The Spurs led by 15 late in the first half and by 17 with 7:

But the Nuggets came back, and they might have scared the Spurs even more had

fault Camby's performance. He grabbed 18 rebounds two days before he's expected
to be named Defensive Player of the Year.

但是金塊隊攻勢再起，如果 Camby 在1分52秒，金塊89比83落後時的灌藍沒有失手，

"We could have won," Camby said. "We missed a lot of easy shots that we
normally make, but we still made a game of it."

Duncan said the Spurs "respect" the Nuggets. But he's not talking about wasting
any time in Game 3.

"We got to go in there in Denver and really try to get this first one and get
our home court back," he said.

The Nuggets left San Antonio in no mood to comply.
