OASIS ALBUM FULL OF COINCIDENCE
The title of the latest OASIS album is virtually exactly the same as another
album released last year (99) by another BEATLES fanatic.
American singer/songwriter BILL LLOYD released his third solo album STANDING
ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS in March 1999.
The album relies on sounds and influences from the mid-Sixties era.
Oasis's fourth LP, STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS was released this
February(00).
NOEL GALLAGHER said he came up with the album title while drunk and looking
at the edge of a British ￡2 coin which features the quote from 17th century
physicist SIR ISAAC NEWTON.
He said, "I wrote it down wrong when I was in the pub the night we finished
doing the album, I was messing around with a ￡2 coin and read round the edge
that it said 'standing on the shoulders of giants' so I wrote it on a
cigarette packet." "When I woke up in the morning I noticed that it said
'standing on the shoulder of giants'. I was a bit drunk the night before, but
it sounded better anyway." This isn't the first coincidence to have dogged
this latest Oasis instalment.
The lyrics to the first single from the LP, GO LET IT OUT were very similar
to those of a Sixties poem.
LIAM GALLAGHER STANDS YOKO ONO UP FOR BOOZE
LIAM GALLAGHER missed his chance to have tea with YOKO ONO because he got
drunk.
The wife of murdered singer JOHN LENNON sent Liam and wife PATSY KENSIT baby
presents when she found out they had named their child after the BEATLES star.
Liam says, "So I thought I'd better ring her up and say thanks. She was in
London and she said come over and have some tea and bring Lennon. And then I
went out on a bender and stood her up. "She sent me this big box of clothes
and baby bits and this card that said, 'To lennon: Welcome to the world,
Love, love, love Yoko.'" Patsy and Liam have now put the card in their safe
to ensure they don't lose it.
