roll band of our generation.
Stuart will be lining up with his band partners Kelly and Richard
Jones as headliners of next weekend's star-studded Festival In The
City in Glasgow.
They'll head up Friday night's bill at Glasgow Green before Oasis top
the main stage the following evening.
Despite rumours that next weekend's date by Oasis could be their last
ever, Stuart said: "I hope they don't split up though it looks like
they're going down that road.
"I wouldn't want them to split because they're a great asset for the
country. It would really be a shame.
"I hope Liam is still around when he is 50, rocking like Mick Jagger.

50歲的Liam哦^-^~呵~還是很帥吧...不過別看起來像Jagger好了...
Oasis have made such a big impact in Britain that parents are naming

their kids Noel and Liam. People are even adopting their style, too.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^真的還假的啊?英國父母傾向把兒子取名Liam或Noel ...;)
"They were a big, influential band and they could end up being the
next Rolling Stones. I'd like to see Oasis as ageing rockers."
The spectacular weekender also includes performances by Paul Weller,
Beck, Primal Scream, Teenage Fanclub, Delgados and Foo Fighters over
five stages.
And Stuart believes that Scots festival-goers could be catching Oasis
at their peak, despite the famous Gallagher brothers' tantrums.
He said: "You never know what's going to happen with Oasis. The
unpredictability of it all is very strange. But when the press aren't

around and there are no cameras on them, they are the nicest guys

you'll meet in your life.

"They're really down-to-earth, but as soon as a camera flashes or a
tape recorder gets turned on, everything seems to go a bit pear-
shaped.
"They're living up to their image. They are rock 'n' roll's
argumentative brothers. That's sad because they're very nice people.
"Both of them want to be rock stars and they want to live the

rock 'n' roll life with their cigarettes, Jack Daniels and cocaine.

"You've got to take your hat off to them because that is rock 'n'

roll. You wouldn't get Boyzone doing it. All Noel and Liam's heroes

were alcoholic drugheads. It's the same with us."

The Stereophonics can't wait to play at the Festival In The City.
They've already recorded the follow-up album to their hugely
successful Performance & Cocktails.
They recorded at Peter Gabriel's studio in Bath and Stuart added: "We
love the place. It's really relaxed and makes us feel like we're in
Wales.
"It's an old, converted corn mill. There is a river and we can go
fishing and walk to the local shops. It's a laidback atmosphere and a
great place to record. Peter is a great bloke."
The Stereophonics have won Q, Kerrang and Brit awards, as well as
charting with great singles including Local Boy In The Photograph, A
Thousand Trees and Pick A Part That's New.
But Stuart, who still lives close to the South Wales mining village
of Cwmaman where he grew up, refuses to let fame go to his head.
He said: "We've been able to have a bit more money in our back
pockets when we go out on a Friday night.
"But I've tried to keep my life as normal as possible. I still live
where I was born and I still hang out with the same mates I've known
since primary school. I try to keep my feet on the ground."
The band fear they could be left with massive hangovers for their
festival appearances at Leeds and Reading on Saturday and Sunday.
Stuart said: "Scotland's always been great for us. We've said it a
million times in the past. We were more popular in Scotland than we
were in Wales when we released the first album.
"We have a brilliant time every time we go to Scotland. I'm looking
forward to it immensely because the Scots are always very vocal and
like to sing along. That pleases us.
"It's going to be a bit mad considering we haven't played a gig in
three months.
"We like to get plastered. That's the background we come from. We're
drinkers rather than druggies. We like to have a drink and the
sessions go on for hours.
"We'll be plastered in Scotland without a doubt. Scotland is the
biggest excuse to get drunk ever. There's no way you can come to
Scotland and not have a drink. It just doesn't happen.
"There are loads of people there we haven't seen for a long time.
It's going to be like Christmas all over again.
"We'll probably have an incredible hangover by the time we get to
Reading."
OFF THE RECORD
Cheers!
