Primal's album is record of the year by immeasurable distance says
Noel
Noel Gallagher claims the exclusion of XTRMNTR from the Mercury Music
Prize shortlist exposes it as a corporate exercise rather than a
geninely artistic award.
"It's a sad indictment of what's going on in music, because that
(XTRMNTR)is the album of the year by - well, I can't mathematically
add up how far ahead of everybody else that album is. It's
fantastic," he says.
"There's always four t***s on there that you've never heard of and
are never likely to hear of - it's all corporate bulls**t at the end
of the day, because the people know what the album of the year is
anyway. It's as simple as that."
Primal Scream are not the only Scots band to get the major thumbs up
from Noel. When he heard Teenage Fanclub's headlining spot on the
Radio One Evening Session Stage had been brought forward, he hoped it
was so they could go an see Oasis rather than avoid competing with
them for an audience!
"I would like to think it was that. I want to go and watch Teenage
Fanclub, and it will be great if we can do that, then scarper and go
on and do our own thing. I love the Fannies, always been a big fan."
