Dotmusic.com at Leeds Tue 29 Aug 2000 00:39 OASIS Leeds: Main Stage, 21:30 'This ain't no f**kin' funeral' snarls Liam right from the start aware that ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^這還不是我們他媽的葬禮! everyone has the same thing on their minds. Is this the last Oasis gig ever? Are these Oasis' final moments of stardom? The hell they are! A disappointingly lacklustre 'Go Let It Out' dedicated to Reggie Kray opens the show. Liam's voice, although strong and precise, doesn't have the high energy it could. 'Who Feels Love?' is the second song lifted from the fairly well- criticised 'Standing On The Shoulder of Giants' album and again there is something unconvincing about the Gallagher's enthusiam. It might have something to do with the tempremental sound that wafts unsteadily from the stacks of speakers. All is not well. Feedback squeals and crackling is just not good enough for the ulitmate headline performance of the whole weekend. The recently changed Oasis line-up, with new members Gem and Andy throttling along, knock out 'Gas Panic' with what seems like less drive than they should. "They played this before the Celtic/Rangers match yesterday", says Noel, playing the intro to 'Digsy's Dinner' before going straight in to 'Roll With It'. Noel delivers all the between-song banter. Liam has very little to say. Stalking the stage and pouting as usual, he seems pensive and there is a real lack of his expected cocky chatter. It's mid way through a cracking 'Wonderwall' that things pick up suddenly and with a startling resonance. The band begin to loosen up and look like they're enjoying themselves. The sudden lift gives 'Stand By Me' and a sensational 'Cigarettes And Alcohol' excitment that hasn't reared it's head before. Noel's more uptempo mood lends him to comment on those split rumours. "We're gonna split the huge amounts of money Vince Power is paying us and get absolutely f**kin sh*tfaced!" he blasted. A sigh of relief is breathed over Leeds. Last song of the main set 'Live Forever' is dedictated to "the Leeds supporters who got it at Turkey" and then they disappear. Encores come in the glorious shape of the epic 'Champagne Supernova' which was superb. Liam gets impatient that things are taking their time in between tunes. Noel says "don't worry mate, if we over-run you can f**king buy this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ place" to which Liam replies "I've got this divorce coming through I've got ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ no money." Liam則回應,"我最近因為離婚 可是要負擔大筆的贍養費,沒錢啦!"...^-^~ And surely there couldn't be a more fitting ending than a rollicking 'Rock And Roll Star'. One verse in, Noel calls a halt to the song, making the stage crew train all the lights on the crowd saying "this is the last show of the tour, I want to see all those people going mental." Meanwhile Liam couldn't have chanted a more suitable lyrical finale than 'it's just rock'n'roll' over and over, if he tried. After all that's quite right, whatever happens now doesn't matter. They came, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^ they saw and no matter how much they've been slagged off, they conquered. Get ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ in there! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Cheers! 最後一段讓我想起Stereophonics的"墓碑笑話" Patsy "Gallagher" Ruth Mitchell -- A long moment. Very long.
