OASIS AND BLACK CROWES TO ROCK AMERICA IN JUNE
OASIS and the BLACK CROWES are in discussions to co-headline an
American tour in June 2001.
Despite Noel Gallagher's assertion that he would not tour with Oasis
outside the UK again, management for the two bands are trying to put
together an arena tour, with the Black Crowes being mooted to play
after Oasis each night.
"If we can work out the details, the tour will mark the pairing of
America and England's greatest rock 'n' roll bands," the Crowes
manager Peter Angelus said in a statement, adding "God help us all."
Oasis manager Marcus Russell was equally enthusiastic about the
proposed package.
"The idea of these two great bands touring together has excited
everyone we speak to," he noted in a statement. "It's the ideal
combination for those who take their rock charged with passion, soul,
and energy."
Speaking in this month's Select magazine, Noel Gallagher said that
Oasis were back in the studio...without him.
"I didn't get invited along so I'm on strike at the moment," the
guitarist said. "When they ask what I'm doing I say `I'm splitting up
with me f**king missus, I've got more important things to do than
play with you'."
Gallagher does however claim to have written six or seven new songs,
although he insists that "five of them are shit". Oasis' newest
recruits Gem Archer and Andy Bell are also chipping in with new
songs, according to the guitarist, while Liam Gallagher, obviously
buoyed by his first songwriting credit on an Oasis album after
writing `Little James' on `Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants', has
also written seven new songs.
"Of course, I'm not letting them on the album," the elder Gallagher
brother noted cheerily.
The Black Crowes meanwhile are currently working on a new album in
New York with producer Don Was.
