沉澱了整整一個禮拜的感覺
直到現在仍然有不知名的顆粒在腦海裡翻騰
要說服自己相信這就是前The Verve主唱Richard Ashcroft的單飛手筆
還真不是件易事呢
耳邊流瀉過電影配樂般的悠揚弦樂
以及似乎可以在許多流行情歌中拼湊出的悅耳旋律
連許多歌詞都變得〝芭樂〞
只要是有聽過幾年西洋流行樂的人
或許都能指出曾在哪首歌看到過類似的字句
但這一切一切的平凡無奇，甚至到達庸俗境地的詞曲
都在Richard獨特氣質和唱腔的渲染下
化腐朽為神奇了
哦
當然還有一個最重要的催化劑
一如我們在封套內頁不只一次看到的
Richard手指上的刺青
愛
這個再簡單再基本不過的人類情感
卻因為被過度、輕易、浮濫地使用
而讓人麻木了
幸好是Richard Ashcroft來詮釋這個字
如果不是聽過之前The Verve的幾張專輯
隱約體會他所經歷的是怎麼樣的一種人生
如果不是深深地被On Your Own、Space & Time裡那種個體孤寂、
獨立人世外的尖銳慘綠而刺痛
如果不是被半逼迫著認同Life Is An Ocean、 History 、
Bitter Sweet Symphony裡苦痛、殘酷、譏諷卻又逃避不了的人生真相
我不會覺得現在這張充滿愛和渴望的新專輯有那麼地甜美可貴
我不會為了那些假使放在偶像團體的情歌裡會讓我一陣嘔心的歌詞而進乎落淚
我也不會越咀嚼每段旋律每行字句
心底就湧出越多的溫柔和陽光
這樣由衷地為Richard感到高興和驕傲
是因為他這個特別的傢伙
不旦帶給了我們他歷經這個世界的陰暗面後的深刻體會和見解
也讓我們一同分享了他在喜獲女兒之後
和老婆更加堅定濃烈的愛
以及迎向人生光明面的新視野
對他來說
過往種種的bitter sweet在他體內烙下的痕跡和影響仍舊
無須刻意去強調或抗拒
