Orioles claim Pearce off waivers from Yankees

Steve Pearce's 2012 travels have brought him back to Baltimore for the end of
the regular season.

The Orioles claimed the right-handed hitter off waivers Saturday after the
Yankees designated him for assignment, bringing Pearce back to Baltimore for
the second time this season. The 29-year-old outfielder won't be eligible for
postseason play if the Orioles qualify, but Pearce will add depth for manager
Buck Showalter's bench with rookie L.J. Hoes heading to the team's
instructional league after Sunday's game.

自從洋基周六把他DFA之後，金鶯就把他買來，所以是一球季當中第二次穿金鶯制服，
不過他將可能不能參加季後賽，
不過還是可以在L.J. Hoes星期日後要去打教學聯盟後增加一點板凳深度。

"We have knowledge of him and we like him," Showalter said of Pearce, who hit
three homers and had 14 RBIs in 28 games for the Orioles. "We would have
liked to have kept him at the time, but we had some other needs that were
more pressing. We have interest in having Steve with the organization in the
offseason."

Pearce previously was acquired by the Orioles from the Yankees in June for
cash considerations, but then the Astros claimed him off waivers at the end
of July. The Yankees, who had signed him at the end of March after the Twins
had released him, picked Pearce up for a second time in August in a trade
with Houston, but made him available earlier this week.

之前皮爾斯是在六月以現金跟洋基交易來的，但是太空人在七月把他從讓渡名單中簽下。
洋基原本是在三月末段從被雙城把他釋出後簽下，在八月又從太空人交易回來。

Showalter said the plan is for Pearce, who lives in Lakeland, Fla., and just
welcomed a baby with his wife, to meet the team in Tampa on Monday.

皮爾斯剛生了一個小孩，星期一將會在坦帕跟球隊碰頭。

To make room for Pearce on the 40-man roster, the Orioles recalled
right-hander Oliver Drake and placed him on the 60-day disabled list with
shoulder tendinitis.

為了在40人名單中清一個位置，
金鶯把Oliver Drake叫上來，然後以肩膀肌腱發炎為由把他放到60天DL
