David Pauley, 25, RHP
Scouting Report: Pauley mixes a very good sinker with a low 90s fastball
with good movement, a good changeup, and a nice curveball. Has 5th starter
potential at the MLB level. Pauley has demonstrated solid success against AAA
competition for extended periods of time, but has yet to impress much at the
big league level, although he hasn't been given much of an opportunity. Needs
to improve his control somewhat. Gives up a lot of home runs. Good fielder
with a strong pick-off move.

BALTIMORE (TICKER) —The Baltimore Orioles on Monday acquired righthander David
Pauley from the Boston Red Sox for righthanded reliever Randor Bierd.
Pauley, 25, spent most of last season at Class AAA Pawtucket, posting a 14-4
record with a 3.55 ERA in 25 starts. He made six appearances - including two
starts - for the Red Sox, going 0-1 with an 11.68 ERA.
Bierd, 24, was acquired by the Orioles in the 2007 Rule V draft from the
Detroit Tigers. He was 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in 29 games out of the bullpen for
Baltimore last season.
Bierd made his major league debut last year after spending five seasons in the
Tigers’organization.
