15. Brandon Snyder, 1b, Delmarva (Orioles)
B-T: R-R Ht: 6-2 Wt: 205 Age: 20 Drafted: Orioles 2005 (1)
After serving as a catcher when he wasn't injured during his first two pro
seasons, Snyder moved to first base this year and looked more comfortable. He
had his best offensive season to date, rebounding nicely from the dislocated
right shoulder and rotator-cuff surgery that limited him to 72 games in 2006.
Snyder showed improved plate discipline and continued to display a smooth
swing from the right side. He consistently gets his hands in a good hitting
position.

The question, however, is whether he'll drive in enough runs to be an impact
player at the major league level, because the move to first base puts a
greater emphasis on his bat. Snyder, who showed soft hands and good
athleticism at his new position, also took groundballs at third base.

“He adapted well defensively and has become a quality first baseman,”

the count and using the whole field.”

20. Billy Rowell, 3b, Delmarva (Orioles)
B-T: L-R Ht: 6-5 Wt: 205 Age: 18 Drafted: Orioles 2006 (1)
The ninth overall pick in the 2006 draft, Rowell played the entire season at
age 18. He didn't tear up the SAL but he wasn't overwhelmed, either. He made
adjustments against older and more experienced players, hitting seven of his
nine homers in the final two months.

2006年19順位，18歲的Rowell打滿了整個球季，雖然沒能屠殺SAL但是也沒有被擊敗，
他已經適應於與老手的對抗，並在最後兩個月敲出整季9支HR中的7支。

Big and strong, Rowell is an aggressive hitter who feasts on fastballs. He
has a good eye at the plate but he also has several holes in his swing. The
Orioles, however, are determined not to tone him down as he learns how to
make adjustments.

又壯又大隻的Rowell是個喜歡打速球，充滿侵略性的打者，選球的眼力不錯，
但是在打擊動作上有些瑕疵，不過金鶯方面決定讓他自己學習怎麼調整。

“He was an 18-year-old kid who survived his first full season,” Kendall
said. “He struggled with offspeed pitches and against lefthanded pitchers,
but he hung in there while batting in the middle of the lineup.”

Defensively, Rowell has soft hands and a very strong arm at third base. He
also has good reactions for the hot corner, but must work on his judgment as
well as his first step. Some scouts believe his lack of range eventually will
lead him to shift to first base.

防守方面，Rowell他柔軟的手感跟強壯的手臂足以勝任三壘的工作。
他也有很好的反應，但是需要加強判斷力跟第一步。
部分球探認為他守備範圍不夠大，可能最終還是得移防到一壘。

about Beato

Q: John C from Acworth, GA asks:
Thanks for taking my question. As a long suffering Orioles fan, I was
wondering if you could tell me what managers and scouts thought of Pedro
Beato. Thank you.

A: Bill Ballew: Beato is a righthander with four pitches who throws 90-94 mph.
He has a good feel for his changeup and his cutter was good early in the
year. He did not have a great season, but he has the ability to be a major
league pitcher. and,

Q: Phil from Overland Park, KS asks:
Where would Pedro Beato rank? Do you still see a lot of potential in him?

A: Bill Ballew: Beato was a near-miss on the list. In July, I thought he would
be a shoo-in, but he did not pitch that well over the course of the season.
Remember, the SAL is a 16-team league, and Beato has the raw tools to be a
success on the bump if he can refine his skills.

about Rowell

Q: Henry Thompson from Tiburon CA asks:
Was Billy Rowell ranked so low due to defensive value potenital or
performance because he was adequate and playing against players more advanced
them him. Because of his huge potential why didn't he rank higher?

A: Bill Ballew: Rowell went through a tremendous learning experience this year
that might have overshadowed his efforts in the eyes of onlookers. He
struggled against lefthanders and off-speed pitches and has plenty of holes
in his swing. That said, he has a good eye at the plate and is at least
capable of becoming a solid defensive third baseman. True, he was 18, but
Rowell simply has more to work on before he'll rank among the league's top
prospects.

Q: John C from Acworth, GA asks:
I thought, for sure, the Orioles would have at least a couple players in the
top 20. Please tell me what managers and scouts thought of Matthew Angle,
Tyler Henson, Joe Mahoney, Ryan Adams, Zach Britton, and Anthony Martinez.
Thank you for your time.

A: Aaron Fitt: Out of that group, Britton was the closest to making the cut.
He ran his fastball up to 92-93 from the left side at times, and he really
got better with his breaking ball as the summer progressed, throwing it for
strikes to both sides of the plate by the end of the summer. He's a good
prospect who just barely missed the top 20. Henson's bat showed some promise,
but he had some trouble throwing and might have to move to the outfield.
Angle was one of a group of speedy college center fielders who garnered
consideration, along with Hudson Valley's Emeel Salem. Angle's speed is his
best asset, and he's a very good defender with range and instincts, but the
bat is a bit of a question.
