Complete Rule 5 Draft list http://kuso.cc/31k2 (網址不用連起來也可以，只是要多過一個頁面。) Drafted From Baltimore: 一個都沒有，我們沒那麼多好貨色，更別提奢侈到能送人的垃圾。 Drafted By Baltimore: 選了四個，MLB(1)，3A(2)，2A(1)。 [MLB] Randor Bierd (DET) - RHP [AAA] Ryan Rodriguez (CHW) LHP [AAA] Tim Brown (SDP) - 1B [AA] J.P Martinez (MIN) - RHP Rule 5 The Orioles selected a relief pitcher from the Tigers' organization in today's Rule 5 draft. His name is Randor Bierd (sounds like a villain in a James Bond flick) and he's a 23-year-old right-hander who finished 2007 at Double-A Erie. Bierd was 1-1 with a 2.05 ERA in 15 games at the low Single-A level before moving up to Erie, where he went 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA and one save in 27 games, including three starts. He allowed 31 hits, walked 10 and struck out 52 in 45 2/3 innings. He surrendered only one home run. Bierd is 12-18 with a 4.39 ERA in four minor league seasons. He's made 28 starts among his 95 appearances, striking out 261 and walking 79 in 260 1/3 innings. If he sticks with the club, it'll most likely be as a middle reliever and mop-up guy. I can't imagine that the Orioles envision him taking over eighth-inning set-up duties. Orioles select RHP Randor Bierd from the Tigers. Bierd is a classic sinker/slider pitcher who misses a lot of bats with both pitches when he’s not generating ground-ball outs with them. The concern scouts have with him is that his fastball has no more than average velocity, but it plays up due to excellent movement and location. His slider is a true plus pitch, but there are many minor league relievers who have combined average velocity with a plus breaking ball to put up big numbers, and their track record in the majors tends to be disappointing. Chances To Stick: Pretty good. Bierd's control will hopefully separate himself from the pack of generic relievers with his kind of arsenal. THT>>> 1. That places him between Clay Buchholz (2.03) and Joba Chamberlain (2.56), though those top prospects achieved their dominance in starting roles. Bierd's career was sidetracked by Tommy John surgery two years ago, but the 23-year-old has bounced back with great control and and his sinking fastball/slider combination should yield at least an average strikeout rate in the major leagues. While Bierd is likely slated for a middle relief role with the Orioles, he does have more than two pitches and experienced some success as a spot starter in the minor leagues.
