An early entry candidate for the 2004 NBA Draft.
Career Highlights: Named First Team All-Big 12 and earned Honorable
Mention All-America honors by AP as a senior. Finished collegiate
career as the all-time leading shot-blocker in Colorado history (fourth
all-time in the Big 12) with 225 rejections. Also finished as Colorado’s
all-time career field goal percentage leader (60.2 percent), eighth
all-time rebounder (707), and 13th all-time scorer (1,317). Posted 25
career double-doubles, two career triple-doubles, and blocked four or
more shots in 25 games.
Junior (2003-04): Led conference in field goal percentage at 63.1
percent (ranking fourth nationally) and blocked shots at 2.9 (ranking
12th). Recorded 12 double-doubles. Posted season-high 30 points against
Pepperdine. Scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked a
season-high seven shots against Texas Tech. Pulled down a season-high
16 boards while scoring 18 points against Oregon State. Set a school
single-game record for field goals made without a miss by hitting all
10 shots on his way to 26 points against Baylor. Scored 26 points and
snared 12 rebounds in season-ending loss to Oregon in the NIT.
Sophomore (2002-03): Led the Big 12 and ranked eighth nationally in
blocked shots (3.3), setting single-season school records for total
blocked shots and blocked shots average. Posted first career triple-double
with a career-high 31 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks against Stetson.
Recorded another triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and a
career-high 11 blocks against Nebraska. Grabbed career-high 18 rebounds
against Georgia.
Freshman (2001-02): Averaged a team-leading 13.9 points and 7.0 rebounds.
Led the Big 12 and ranked third nationally in field goal percentage
(.638), setting a single-season school record. Paced team in scoring
nine times. Registered four double-doubles. Set a school freshman record
for rebounds with 15 against Iowa State.
Strengths: Extremely athletic for a player his size with good overall
skills. His size, strength and quickness make him an excellent shotblocker.
Has a decent shooting touch and earns frequent trips to the line.
Personal: Named a McDonald’s All-American after his prep career.
Father Dennis played in the NFL and serves as an assistant coach at
Vanderbilt. Older brother D.J. also played basketball at Colorado.
An open option major in the College of Arts and Sciences and made the
Big 12 Commissioners Honor Roll in Spring 2003.
