繼續破病中,所以心得寫在腦子裡,先寄放著吧。(晚了一天 po 就這樣) --- Young Pacers rebound from their poor showing By Sekou Smith sekou.smith@indystar.com July 23, 2003 SALT LAKE CITY -- Fred Jones had all the motivation he needed Tuesday sitting 15 rows from the floor at the Rocky Mountain Revue. Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird sat with player personnel director Mel Daniels, each man shouting encouragement to Indiana's second-year guard as he, along with rookie forward James Jones, tried to redeem themselves after less then stellar performances in the team's summer league opener. The words of wisdom proved beneficial for the Joneses, both of whom played well as the combined Indiana/Philadelphia team defeated Portland 92-86 in overtime. Fred Jones played a team-high 32 minutes and finished with 13 points, six assists, three rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot. He acquitted himself well after scoring four points in a 98-73 loss to Denver on Sunday night. James Jones went scoreless in 11 minutes Sunday, but bounced back with 18 points and four rebounds against Portland. With his shot falling -- 7-of-10, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range -- and confidence soaring, the rookie established himself early. "Both of us came off of a terrible game, so we had something to come out here and prove today," Fred Jones said. "We just wanted to make sure we didn't have two of those bad games in a row. "And I know it's going to come for me. I've been like that for a while, kind of laid-back and just letting stuff come to me. But I have to realize in my mind that I'm one of the best players out here. And then I have to go out there and play like it." Bird, who made it to town shortly before the game, said he'd like to see more of the same from both players today against San Antonio. "I liked what I saw," Bird said. "I know James is a shooter and a scorer type but he's got to be able to do a little bit more. He's got to learn the NBA game. He's got to learn to put the ball on the floor and got to be able to defend and rebound. You've got to do more than just score. "Freddie has improved a lot since I watched him when he was in college. Obviously, we'd like to see more of what he can do out on the floor with the ball. But he played well today. He had a really good first half and made some things happen." Philadelphia point guard John Salmons scored the last six points of overtime to lead the winners with 27, matching the output of Portland's Qyntel Woods. Marion, Ind., native Zach Randolph added 26 points and 11 rebounds for Portland. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 61.223.128.88
