Barbosa Has Become a Focal Point for the Suns

"Is Leandro Barbosa a point guard?"
Over the past three games, Barbosa has averaged
13.0 points on 50 percent shooting, plus 2.7 steals,
1.7 rebounds, though only 1.7 assists.
Clearly, his defensive instincts are superior to his
offensive ones, at least as a point guard.
"He's got 1,000 things on his plate. . . . But he’s
learning where the ball is going to go. We have a
low-post presence now (in Amare Stoudemire), and
that makes it easier."
The offensive stat that stands out most about Barbosa
is his 40 percent marksmanship on 3-pointers
(second to Jacobsen’s 43 percent).
And this skill is, of course, more associated with an off guard.
So back to the original question: Is he a point guard?
"We’ll see," D’Antoni said.
But the Suns’ coach seems more certain of one assumption:
"He is a player."
