:   Former Bulls forward Paul Shirley participated in Suns workouts for the
: first time Wednesday. He said he expects to sign a make-good contract, his
: fourth with a NBA team, before camp opens Tuesday.
:   He is excited to be on any NBA floor after his Chicago stint was cut short
: in March by an Austin Croshere knee.
:   Shirley suffered a lacerated spleen and a ruptured kidney. He was
: hospitalized for nine days and homebound for a month.
:   Shirley will be playing the part of Jackson Vroman, the Suns rookie who
: will miss all or most of camp with a broken thumb. It's not a stretch. Each
: is a 6-10 forward out of Iowa State.
:   "I have to suck it up and kowtow to a younger guy," Shirley, 26, joked.
