During the most arduous months of Amare Stoudemire's rehabilitation from
microfracture knee surgery, his basketball arsenal was reduced to one allowable
on-court task.

Each day, Stoudemire would line up his size-16 Nikes at the free-throw line and
shoot 100 times. He usually made about 80 on a court void of players or
screaming, arm-waving fans.

As his clouded comeback became a stunning success, Stoudemire's health improved
, attitude matured and skills broadened. But one thing stayed the same from the
rehabilitation period - his free-throw shooting. Even as he takes to the
charity stripe now amid a game's heavy minutes and commotion, Stoudemire is as
accurate as he was during those humbling days on a quiet court.

Stoudemire, a 66.1 percent free-throw shooter as a rookie four years ago, is
converting 79.6 percent of his free throws this season. The 24-year-old Suns
center is near his goal of an 80 percent season, something fellow front-line
All-Stars Karl Malone or Charles Barkley never did.

This is more than a statistical achievement. It's a game changer for the Suns.
Stoudemire's ability to frequently get to the line and convert at a high rate
means easy points, foul trouble for opponents and bonus chances for the NBA's
top free throw-shooting team.

In the past month, Stoudemire has been drawing free-throw opportunities as
often as he did in the 2004-05 season, when he led the league in free throws
attempted. He shot 9.9 free throws a game that year and was at 9.9 again for
the 16 games prior to Wednesday's ejection. During that 16-game stretch, he
made 84.2 percent of his free throws.
    在過去這個月，阿罵吸引對手犯規所獲得的罰球機會已經和之前'04-'05年球季時相去

Amare is going to give us, hopefully, a whole different look in these playoffs

Stoudemire boasts a career-best 58.5 field-goal percentage.

Shawn Marion has made at least 80 percent of his free throws every season but

is averaging 7.5 attempts this season but 11.3 over the seven games leading
into Wednesday, when he only shot two in 20 minutes.

"When you shoot the jumper from outside, it makes it kind of hard for a team to
decide what they want to do," Stoudemire said. "I try to be very aggressive so
we can get to the line for easy baskets."

Stoudemire said he "absolutely" expects his post presence to become more
important in the postseason, when teams will try to slow the Suns' pace.
