There was a time this spring when Amare Stoudemire was not sure whether his
participation in USA Basketball this summer would be more presence than playing
.
    春天時阿罵曾有一段時間不確定參加今年夏天美國男籃是否比打球更為重要。

But with more recuperation time than he anticipated due to the Suns'
second-round exit, Stoudemire committed to play for the senior national team
this summer with a Tuesday phone call to USA Basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.
　　不過因為太陽提前在第二輪出局所以比起過去幾次有更長的暑假，阿罵在星期二打了
通電話給美國隊的K教練，承諾這個夏天要為國家男籃隊效力。

"It's exciting," Krzyzewski said Wednesday. "Amare said, 'Coach, it's going to
be an honor to play for the U.S. I'm ready. What do you want me to do over the
next two months?' That type of commitment shows great maturity. It's a verbal
commitment that is strong. We expect him to be a strong player. I told him to
relax for a little bit because getting to be a first-team All-NBA player after
that (microfracture) surgery is really one of the more remarkable
accomplishments for a player."

Stoudemire played sparingly on the 2004 Olympic team and used last year's USA
Basketball training camp as part of his rehabilitation but left the camp early
because his body was not ready. Coming off two knee surgeries, Stoudemire did
 not miss a game this season - until he received the infamous one-game
suspension during the Suns-Spurs playoff series.
    阿罵在'04年的奧林匹克隊上沒有太多表現機會，在去年則利用美國男籃訓練營當作他
復健過程的一部分但因為身體還沒準備好所以提前離營。走過兩次膝蓋手術，阿罵本季全
勤 - 一直到太陽vs馬刺系列賽中才因聯盟無腦的禁賽處分而缺戰一場。

"I guess he's not concerned about anything," said Jerry Colangelo, USA
Basketball men's senior national team managing director and Suns chairman. "
This (call to Krzyzewski) was upon his own initiative. Obviously, he's going to
have some down time here - a whole month. As it works out, he should be fine."

Stoudemire and Suns teammate Shawn Marion are part of a 25-man USA Basketball
roster that will eventually be whittled down to a team that plays in the FIBA
Americas Championship, an Aug. 22-Sept. 2 Olympic qualifying tournament held in
Las Vegas. A July 20-22 minicamp and Aug. 13-21 training camp will be held in
Las Vegas, Marion's college town and hometown of his mother, to lead up to the
10-team qualifier for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
    阿罵太陽隊友Matrix都是美國男籃25人名單中的成員，這份名單最後將會被削減成為
一支球隊，代表美國參加8月22日至9月2日在拉斯維加斯舉行的世界盃男籃錦標賽以爭取奧
運參賽權。7月20至22日的迷你營和8月13至21日的訓練營將會在Matrix的母校所在地和他
媽媽的家鄉，拉斯維加斯舉行以決定可以爭取'08年北京奧運會參賽權的10支球隊。

Marion has played for the senior national team in the 2001 Goodwill Games, 2002
World Championship and 2004 Olympics.
    Matrix在'01年的友誼運動會、'02年世界錦標賽和'04年奧運都曾為美國隊效力。

"The last time I spoke with Shawn, he was 50-50," Colangelo said. "He wasn't
sure but I'm holding a spot for him."
    "上一次我和Matrix聊天時，他的心意是欲拒還迎的50%，"Colangelo說。"他還不確定
但我願意為他保留一個專屬的位置。"

Suns coach Mike D'Antoni also will continue to serve as an assistant coach on
Krzyzewski's staff along with Portland coach Nate McMillan and Syracuse coach
Jim Boeheim.
    太陽教練M.D'Antoni和波特蘭拓荒者教練N.McMillan以及雪城大學教練J.Boeheim都會
繼續擔任K教練團隊中的助理教練。
