The examples have been isolated but there is a promising premise developing
in regard to the Suns defense.

在最近的比賽中，太陽的防守總是慘不忍睹。但現在的你或許要改變一下想法了，在對
上馬刺的比賽裡，你可以看到太陽的防守是有許多的進步。

Against title contenders Boston and San Antonio, the Suns gave up 38.5
percent and 34.9 percent shooting. Toss in a half of stellar defense at
Portland that kept the Trail Blazers to 41 percent overall and Phoenix has
given fans a reason for optimism that Shaquille O'Neal could be a postseason
boon.

在之前對上塞爾提克與馬刺時，太陽讓對方整體的命中率僅僅只有38.5與34.9%。而在
對上拓荒者時，太陽也讓對方的命中率只有41%而已。這也給了所有太陽隊的球迷一個

The flip side, six games of allowing 50-plus percent shooting with O'Neal,
had been so horrid that you wondered whether having a back line of defense
like O'Neal mattered without an ability to play one-on-one perimeter defense.
It looked like an episode of Lost, with Suns defenders on islands. Now, there
is Sunday's 94-87 win over San Antonio to provide the upside of the trade's
defensive argument.

但還是有另人擔心的一面，在近10場的比賽中，其中有六場我們讓對手的命中率高達到
五成以上，這時候就會考慮到雖然大歐的禁區威嚇力是非常強大的，但要一對一守到中

With O'Neal as a post defender, the Suns are supposed to be able to
concentrate on individual assignments better. With O'Neal and Amaré
 Stoudemire in the lane, the Suns can take away the perimeter shot and funnel
drivers to the shot-blockers or shot-changers.

大歐讓我們的禁區更加堅固，但現在太陽所擔心的是外圍一對一的防守，我們必須要把
外圍的個人防守做得更好。但當大歐或是阿罵在罰球線附近時，太陽是會放掉中距離跳

"In theory, it makes it easier but at the same time, you can try to do a good
job both ways," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "We can get up into people a
lot more and that's where it takes the effort. But before, we couldn't even
get up into them, so it makes a difference. We had to double down and you
would try to help everywhere you can.

冷笑話說:"我們必須要同時把禁區與外圍的防守都給鞏固好。我們必須要給貼近對手，

"Now, you're only responsible for making sure he doesn't take a perimeter
shot. We've got someone to guard the basket. We've got two guys."

The Suns previously wanted to lure the perimeter shot, figuring they could
outshoot any team and that missed jumpers would spur fast breaks. Phoenix
scored above its average with 23 transition points Sunday and forced opposing
players into the middle, leading to eight team blocks - the Suns' best total
since O'Neal's Suns debut.

先前太陽希望誘惑對方用中距離跳投，一但跳投不進，我們隨即就可以發動快攻得分。
在星期日的比賽中，太陽總共有23的得分是在攻守轉換上所得來的，超出了本季的平均

It was a category in which Phoenix once led the NBA with Shawn Marion
swatting shots from behind and Brian Skinner blocking them at the rim.

The Suns still will pick their spots to double or switch or have a variable,
such as Suns forward Grant Hill, instead of Steve Nash, guarding Spurs point
guard Tony Parker down the stretch Sunday. But for the most part, Phoenix is
a straight-up defense relying on individuals to "step up a notch," as
D'Antoni said, or "man up," as Stoudemire said.

太陽在戰術上有著許多不同轉換。就拿Hill來說，在星期日對決馬刺時，關鍵的時刻是

"You're not giving a half-step toward him (a post threat) and worrying about
running around and rotating," Nash said. "You can stay tighter to your man.
Play 'D' more straight up and you've got a chance to make it harder for them."

On Monday, the most cited difference in Sunday's defense was the intensity,
or "doggedness," as D'Antoni called it.

"No team has really beat us yet," O'Neal said of his 4-6 Suns era. "We've

are against the lesser teams."

Enter Memphis, tonight's gauge for where Phoenix's consistency in drive and
desire are against a team that is a game from the West cellar.

在過不久之後，太陽將會面對到目前西區最後一名的灰熊好人隊。

The game is likely to be high scoring because of Memphis' league-worst
defense but Phoenix is 1-5 with O'Neal when scoring more than 100 points. The
Suns felt better about offensive flow for a few games but now want to fold in
defensive discipline.

這或許是一場高得分的比賽?因為灰熊的防守算得上是全聯盟最差的。但可別忘了，自從
大歐加入到太陽之後，太陽得分超過100分的比賽戰績是1勝5敗。太陽流暢的進攻只有在
最近的少部分比賽中有出現而已，但現在的太陽是專注在防守上，希望防守做得更好。

"That's the game plan, just to make guys uncomfortable offensively,"
Stoudemire said. "Then we get the ball and run."

阿罵說:"這就是我們的戰術，在防守上讓對方感受到壓力然而投不進，之後我們就掌握
到球權迅速的跑快攻。"
