About five players have emerged as MVP candidates for this NBA season. Kobe
Bryant, Chris Paul, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady top most
lists.

Suns forward Amare Stoudemire won't say whether he thinks he deserves
consideration.

"That's up to you guys," he told reporters after Monday's spirited practice.

But it is clear Stoudemire seeks greater recognition for his ascension to

definitely hurts because I put in the work and the time and the effort to be

it or not, my teammates notice it, my coaching staff notices it, and we're
winning ballgames."

Stoudemire is the Western Conference Player of the Week, averaging 31.7 points
, 11.3 rebounds and 1.67 blocks. He shot 66 percent over those three games,
all Suns wins. The spike in production has been attributed to Shaquille
O'Neal's presence, but coach Mike D'Antoni noticed a difference before the
Suns made their blockbuster trade.

Entering Tuesday's game at Portland, Stoudemire is averaging 28.5 points since
the All-Star break, third best behind James and Bryant. His scoring output is
5.3 points better than his first-half production, which is the biggest jump
among the league's top 20 scorers. Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki is next at 4.7
points, followed by Charlotte's Jason Richardson and Paul at 4.4.

Stoudemire, 25, always seems to have one eye on the present, the other on the
future. His plan always includes improvement. Last year, he wanted to develop
a better jump shot. This year, better defense. Last month, he discussed
becoming a better playmaker. On Monday, he talked about improving his ball
handling and blossoming into a defender so versatile he could defend point
guards as well as centers.

才25歲的阿罵，總是似乎一隻眼睛著眼於現在，另一隻已經看到未來了。他的計劃永遠會
包含著進步。去年他希望能發展出更好的跳投，今年是更好的防守。上個月，他被形容變

The drive comes from within, but the motivation might stem from O'Neal, who
has been around long enough to know which buttons to push in a young player.
At his introductory news conference, O'Neal launched the "Amare Stoudemire
Project," charged with molding basketball's best power forward. It has reached
Phase 1.5, the center joked.

這份幹勁來自內部，但驅使他這麼做的根本原因或許是因為大歐，他已經在聯盟打滾夠久

"I've been telling him that he needs to take it as a sign of disrespect when
you, the media people, don't mention his name like you do the Garnetts and
the Dwight Howards," O'Neal said. "In any basic karate movie or any Mafia
movie, in order for you to get to the top, you have to take out the top guy.
You have to go after what they do. . . . He has to let the world know who
Amare Stoudemire is."

"我告訴他他必需要把媒體大眾不把他當做KG或DH般對待當做是一個不被尊重的記號。"大
歐說："在任何武打片或犯罪電影裡，你必需要幹掉站在頂端的傢伙自己才能站上去。你

Stoudemire said he feels like a rookie again. He called his jump shot
"deadly." He can tell opponents aren't sure whether to step up on him or play
back, protecting against penetration. That's fine, he said. He'll take
whatever they allow. His confidence is high; his options are growing.

阿罵說他再一次得覺自己像隻菜鳥。他形容他的跳投是"致命的"，他可以透過洞察力判斷
對手不確定到底是要趨前防守還是要跟他斷背山XD。他說這樣很好，他可以選擇做那些防
守者讓他做的事。他的把握性很高；他的選擇還在增加中。


"As the season goes along and as I grow as a player, it's just going to open
more and more for me," he said before joking: "The only thing I can't do is
take a quarter off the top of the backboard."

‧ Forward Grant Hill didn't participate in Monday's practice to protect his
sprained right wrist. D'Antoni said he expected him to play Tuesday night at
Portland.

星期二對上拓荒者時將會回到場上。
