SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- Amare Stoudemire scored 25 points to lead the
Phoenix Suns to a 104-96 preseason victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Matched up with superstar Tim Duncan for part of the game, Stoudemire made
7-of-14 shots and 11-of-11 free throws. He had consecutive baskets to cap a
surge that gave Phoenix the lead for good at 96-87 lead with 8:10 remaining.
Shawn Marion scored 14 points for the Suns, who shot 47 percent from the
field and had five players in double figures. Joe Johnson and Casey Jacobsen
scored 11 points apiece, Maciej Lampe added 10 and Steve Nash nine with 11
assists. Duncan was sharp with 25 points on just 10-of-16 shooting in 21
minutes. Rasho Nesterovic added 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting for the Spurs,
who shot just 40 percent. First-round pick Beno Udrih scored six points in
15 minutes for San Antonio, making two 3-pointers.
