"Claudio Abbado: The silence that follows the music"
(Abbado
Whenever I go into the mountains
I think how crazy life sometimes is,
the noise of the people in the big cities.
Sometimes I ask myself how I can live in such a metropolis.
Of course I'm impressed and enjoyed
By what's happening culturally in Berlin.
In that respect it's unmatched by any other city in the world.
Every evening, every day, there's something new,
music, theatre, exhibitions.
And yet...
the sense of "life", if that's what you call it,
the meaning of life is something I always find
up in the mountains.
It's so quiet up there.
When it snows you hear the snow coming,
you hear it falling on the earth.
And that's something that you lose.
