Cliff Lee turning down extra millions from the New York Yankees to return
to the Phillies two weeks ago was inspiration.
The more J.C. Romero thought about it, the more he wished he'd done the
same after becoming a free agent late last fall. If only the Phillies
hadn't filled their left-handed relief hole, his old job, by agreeing to
a deal last month with another veteran lefty, Dennys Reyes.

Romero, a Phillie since 2007, was just sick about having to move on.

Then, incredibly, the string of misfortune that seemed to be following
Romero for two seasons changed in a surprising way. When Reyes failed his
physical with the Phillies last week, his $1.1 million, 1-year deal was off.

        不過官方不證實  他的經紀人更是不可能會承認  pupu :D~~

Suddenly, Romero was back in the picture.

Things moved quickly, and by Christmas Eve Romero had agreed on a one-year,
$1.35 million contract for 2011. He also can earn another $150,000 if he
spends 25 or fewer days on the disabled list next season, plus $250,000
in performance bonuses that are tied to appearances, pushing the potential
total value of the deal to $1.75 million.

        據米勒的內餡指出  羅咩羅的這一年約  底薪是１３５萬米果幣

        假如明年他躺平在DL的日數短於25天  就可以多拿１５萬個米果

        另外有不詳的激勵條款  符合的話另外加薪２５萬

        所以結論: 底薪１３５萬  最高可以拿到１７５萬

"I could have taken a gamble to go and get a better contract, but when
you're comfortable you take that over money," Romero said by phone from
his native Puerto Rico. "And once Cliff Lee came on board, the decision
became a little easier."

Romero will take a big pay cut from the $4.25 million that he made the
last two seasons, but he says he doesn't care.

"It gets to a point where, when you're comfortable in a place, money becomes
secondary," Romero said. "I thought I'd get around $2 million, but when I
think about it I have a chance to go to the playoffs again. If you leave
some money on the table, sometimes it's good when you can win."

        羅咩羅說他覺得自己價值年薪２００萬

        不過如果拿點錢來換季後賽門票  他覺得傷當划算 XD~

The 34-year-old figures he was due for a break after missing time over
the last two seasons with arm injuries that led to a surgery and a 60-game
suspension at the start of 2009 for testing positive to a performance-
enhancing substance that he had purchased at a General Nutrition Center.

        這兩年該不會是太歲當頭坐  無災恐有禍

Romero said, referring to the ageless 48-year-old who pitched for the
Phillies from 2006-10. "If you respect the game and play the game the
right way, the money will take care of itself."

Romero was a godsend for the Phillies after they signed him in June 2007
after he had been released by Boston. Working as the club's top lefty
reliever, he posted a 1.24 ERA over 51 games in '07, then a 2.75 ERA in
the '08 championship season in which he won two World Series games,
including the Game 5 clincher.
"I want to give Philly what I gave for those first two years," said Romero,
who plans to be in Philadelphia around Jan. 5-7 for a physical that he's
guaranteeing he'll pass. "I think I'm ready to do it again."

"From the time they decided not to pick up my option, they told me that
 they wanted to bring me back," Romero said. "But I don't think they knew
 the price that I was going to ask for. I know we talked a little bit
 before the Reyes (near) signing, then I know we stopped talking.

       "PHI拒絕偶的選擇權後  立刻告訴偶..其實他們還是希望偶可以回來..."

"Everything happens for a reason. It didn't work out with Reyes, so (the
Phillies) went back to my agent. I'm telling you, man, I'm excited to be
back," Romero said. "Right now, I'm looking to win another championship.
That's what I'm really focused on."
