        Phillies Being Cautious With Cole Hamels

Cole Hamels has never been so dominant as he has been this season,
particularly in the past month.

His exit from Tuesday night's game due to tightness in his mid-back
is then magnified given how brilliant the SoCal southpaw has been
this season.

When asked if he would make his next start, scheduled for Sunday in
Seattle, Hamels said, "Oh yeah, the chiropractor is coming tomorrow,
I'm excited."

Hamels has won his last five decisions, tying his career best. In his
past six outings he has a 1.64 ERA and has allowed just eight runs in
44 innings. From the first to the seventh inning, before Ryan Howard
recorded his first error of the season, Hamels retired 17 straight
Florida batters on Tuesday.

"He just got stiff," manager Charlie Manuel said in his postgame press
conference on Tuesday night. "I don’t think it's [anything] serious.
He's fine"

"It just kind of tightened up on me," Hamels said after the game
from the clubhouse, “you know, the rain delay and obviously it got
a lot colder and my body temperature kind of dropped and just everything
tightened up. I obviously don’t think it’s that smart to go out and
try to compete and not be able to compete at my best.

"Obviously, I don’t want to hurt anything and just try to play it
smart and I don’t want to come out of the game, but at the same time
you have to be smart."

David Herndon came on in relief and got the final six outs, preserving
the win for the 27-year-old All-Star candidate.
"I want to go out and I want to play as much as possible,” Hamels
said. “I don’t want to pull myself out of a game ever, but there are
just some situations when you have a little doubt you might as well
not try and force anything.

"The temperature of my body just went cold and trying to go out and
pitch when you are not at your best is just an opportunity to get hurt
and that’s not what I want to do. I want to make every single start."

It could just be a momentarily balky back. Manuel described it simply
as a “knot in his back

 "I can’t afford to let my heart skip," Manuel said of the precaution
employed in pulling Hamels in the eighth inning before he recorded an out.
"I've got one, I’ve had a lot of work done on it."

        沒妞表示  俺當然要把他趕快拉下場ㄚ  他是俺的小心肝呢  ^.<
