Yankees GM Brian Cashman and Phillies GM Ruben Amaro spoke on the phone around
3 p.m. ET Wednesday, an hour before the trade deadline, at which time Amaro
confirmed what the Yankees had been reading in the media: Michael Young was
willing to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Yankees.

So Cashman offered to send a prospect -- believed to be righthanded pitcher
Tommy Kahnle -- to Philly and pay the $5 million to go on Young's deal. Amaro
rejected the offer. Kahnle, 23, is 1-2 with a 2.42 ERA at Double-A Trenton,
having allowed just 23 hits in 44 2/3 innings. He has 52 strikeouts but 30
walks, suggesting he needs to work on control.

Word is, from the Phillies camp that the money wasn't really an issue for Amaro
and he apparently didn't feel that prospect was enough for Young. There was
discussion of a second proposal for a different Yankee prospect closer to the
big leagues, but Amaro ultimately declined to do that deal, as well.

Then Cashman asked about Phillies veteran catcher Carlos Ruiz, and was told that
Ruiz, who has one home run this year, is not available. No offer was made there,
and word from a Phillies-connected persoon is that Amaro didn't feel like he had
an adequate replacement to start at catcher for the Phillies.

The Phillies have not named starting pitchers for Saturday or Sunday.

Lee, who missed his last start with a sore neck, threw in the bullpen on
Thursday and later said he would probably start on Sunday if he continued to
feel good.

So who will start on Saturday? One would figure Pettibone would get the nod,
but the right-hander appears to be in limbo because he is being treated for
“some arm fatigue,” according to a source.

Pettibone last pitched on Sunday in Detroit. He allowed seven hits and four
walks while striking out just one in five innings. Maybe he’ll be ready to
pitch with an extra day of rest on Saturday. Maybe he won’t. Or maybe the
Phillies could use Lee on Saturday and gain and extra day to evaluate Pettibone.
It's all up in the air at this point.

或許會讓Pettibone多休一天而在星期天先發  或許不會(而按表定在星期六先發)
或許小李可以在星期六先發而讓Pettibone多休一天再觀察看看

So there might be more than meets the eye to Martin’s promotion. That won’t
dampen Martin’s enthusiasm. His family is flying in from Atlanta for the game.

Regardless of how long Martin is here, “I want to show them what I’ve got and
prove to them that I can be here for however long they need me and put that in

            我會讓FO在未來輪值需要人手的時候第一時間想到我

(七月以來Martin的5場先發的BB數都控制還不錯，控球看起來似乎是有改善的跡象)
 Martin主要武器球是均速mid-90s的plus fastball
                       mid-80s showing marked improvement this season的slider
                   還有將來決定他會是先發料還是牛棚料 目前還需要改善的changeup)

   寶貝砲說在他最近放砲之後還沒跟老番癲或Amaro談過

(只怪Amaro在七月初認不清楚這爛隊而沒有放寶貝砲到老虎...據信是吃薪水問題談不攏)

近日感想︰

就讓這又老又爛的打線就這樣豪無反應的爛完2013吧  換不換的到東西倒是無所謂了...

老番癲到球季結束之後是一定會離開我不擔心，但是現在目標是要繼續輸更多的比賽!!!!

這樣才有機會讓Amaro一起下台！

我完全並不覺得沒交易就是沒做事，而是針對Amaro這次的交易策略感到失望

1. 先說M.Young的部分，他的守備、只能用2個月、NTC、市場只有金鳥洋基紅襪這三隊，
   這些讓他的交易價值本來就相當有限，最多可以換到中等的prospect我就覺得是賺到
   有個很重要的點是8月的報價很可能會比7月的報價要來得更低，因為Waivers Trade的
   規則，M.Young被放上Waiver之後，不管是金鳥紅襪洋基屆時誰的戰績最差甚或是其它
   球隊突然殺出而得到交易談判權(美東三隊到時也不一定會claim)，Young的交易機會
   就只有一次而且只有一隊 (因為曾被claim之後撤回的球員，在30天之內不能再次放上
   waiver的規則) 這更大大限制了Young在八月的交易價值，另外更有可能的是同區戰績
   較差的球隊為了只是破壞對手得到Young的交易機會而提出claim、並非真心想談交易，
   所以我會說Young在8月的能聽到的報價很可能會比7月的報價要來得更低

2. Ruiz部分，今年捕手的市場太有限，只有洋基和紅鳥有需要補強捕手，明年初就35歲
   今年底FA、雙腳相當有健康問題、今年又打得很爛，雖然如此我相信把他和Young一起
   包給NYY還是能夠換到中上以上的貨色，今年球季很明顯已經結束，留這兩人到年底拼
   戰績完全沒有意義(最多就是70勝和75勝的差別)

   而Amaro回的是什麼，他說Ruiz並不在交易桌上...

   OK，到目前我唯一能想到要留住他的理由是未來兩個月有些新秀SP和RP會持續上來，
   要靠乳液引導這些年輕手臂，大概就只有這個理由

   但如果照這邏輯，我們豈不是要一直留住一個35歲以上、可能只能蹲2/3球季或是更少
   而且打擊能力也衰退到聯盟在這位置平均以下的捕手？

   我知道農場現在沒有人可以上來接，如果他現在不在交易桌上那表示年底續約機率很高
   但真要留他，我們可以交易乳液之後年底再簽回來，這完全不影響...

   我還想說乳液今年打成這樣又痛不知道洋基願不願意來問，結果現金人還真的來問了
   Amaro卻決定乳液並不在交易桌上...-_-

   我還是想再強調一次，把Young+Ruiz包起來跟現金人討價還價我相信很可能能換到不錯
   的prospect，而且隊上也還有個很好用的捕手叫Erik Kratz

最後是6月時有機會丟給老虎salary dump結果踩高姿態要賣不賣的，結果明星賽後球隊被
打出原形，Amaro才在說還有26M/2yrs球速又直直落的寶貝砲"is very available"，結果
當然沒人理的鳥事我也懶得講了

一堆失敗的大約加上今年在交易市場的徹底失敗，Amaro勢必要負起責任

   His head was feeling much better and plans to be back on the field next week.
   and had not had symptoms for the past four days and passed every test he
   needed to get back on the field, noted he was "pretty sure" he would go on a
   rehab assignment before rejoining the Phillies, but sounded confident he
   would return to the team next week.

   預計下禮拜可以打復健賽以及回到打線

   (不知道Domo回來之後會是"Asche回3A"還是"Ruf去右外野"？)

   anti-inflammatory medication and hopes to start early next week.

   Lee threw a bullpen session earlier in the week and plans on starting 8/4

   8/3星期六午場先發則是還沒公布

   所以這幾天的輪值會是8/2 Martin、8/3 unknown、8/4 Lee、8/6 Lannan、8/7 KK

09年以後再也沒有上過大聯盟，今年都在3A鐵豬隊出賽，是個先發牛棚兩邊跑的搖擺人
會先進牛棚補Ramirez的缺，如果又有先發出狀況(拜託不要再有SP受傷了Orz)可能由他遞補
